About 30 children and their mothers participated in the Grant County Fair Kids Parade on Friday.

Led by the Boy Scout Troop 800 color guard, the children wore boots, chaps and cowboy hats as they rode bikes, pulled wagons and escorted dogs and goats through downtown John Day.

Grant County Fair Princess Courtney Nichols judged the entries at the end, and everyone was a winner, with each child receiving a Dairy Queen token for free ice cream.
