Monument Council spot on ballot

MONUMENT – Two Monument City Council positions have drawn two candidates each in the Nov. 4 election.


Position 4

Carrie Ussery


Why are you running?

I think I can help the City of Monument to survive and thrive in the future.

What elected offices have you held?

I was appointed to my current council position 2-1/2 years ago. I have been president of the city council for one year.

Describe your community involvement:

I have participated in the annual city cleanup day for the past three years; part of the Monument Service Club, with activities to help Monument; participated in the community garden for the past two years. In the past, I have helped with the SMART reading program at Monument School.

What is your main goal if elected?

I want to help the city become compliant with all regulating agencies, and continue to see the city reach more stable financial footing, and to apply for more grants to help enrich the city of Monument.

William Turner


Why are you running?

I am running for re-election in order to continue work on some very important issues facing the city that the present council is dedicated to resolving.

What elected offices have you held?

City council, past and present

Describe your community involvement:

I served on the city fire department in the past.

What is your main goal if elected?

I want to see through to completion the water and sewer projects this council has begun. It is the most critical issue facing the city.
