PRAIRIE CITY – The Prairie City School District school board has started its search for a new superintendent and principal.

Ryan Gerry, who currently holds the position, recently was picked to be principal at Grant Union Junior-Senior High School. He will start that job July 1.

In an emergency meeting April 22, the Prairie City board accepted Gerry’s letter of resignation.

Board president Marge Walton said the district is posting the superintendent/principal job on two websites: SpringBoard and the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators (COSA).

The board also voted to employ Paul Bartels of Iowa as the school’s new social studies teacher, beginning July 1, and they approved the 2015-16 school calendar.
