JOHN DAY — The annual Grant County Quilt Show, scheduled for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 11 through 13, has been canceled, due to the recent wildfire.

The Grant County Piecemakers Quilt Guild made the decision at a recent gathering.

The event will be rescheduled next spring.

The guild is striving to create quilts to donate to each family whose home was destroyed in the fire. Shiny Thimble in Mt. Vernon is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays for anyone interested in helping. Cash and fabric donations are also welcome.

Shiny Thimble is at 100 E. Main St. in Mt. Vernon. Call 541-792-0670 for more information.
