An Idaho man who had been staying in John Day was arrested by the FBI Friday.

Oregon State Police troopers from the John Day work site assisted the FBI with the service of a search warrant at the Grant County Fairgrounds and RV Park, and the FBI arrested Michael Emry on weapons violations, OSP Sgt. Tom Hutchison said.

Emry was being held at the Deschutes County jail as of Friday evening. The jail website states he is “pending transport,” being held on an out of county warrant.

Emry was affiliated with The Voice of Idaho and The Voice of Grant County, Oregon.

A Facebook post from the The Voice of Grant County confirms he was arrested by the FBI: “We don’t know the charges — presumably it was because of the Malheur Occupation. Michael was there as media and nothing more.”

The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
