Arrests and citations in the Blue Mountain Eagle are taken from the logs of law enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of arrest cases.

Grant County Sheriff

CANYON CITY — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported the following for the week of Nov. 27-23:

• Concealed handgun licenses: 3

• Average inmates: 15

• Bookings: 8

• Releases:6

• Arrests: 1

• Fingerprints: 3

• Civil papers: 10

• Warrants processed: 2

• Asst./welfare check: 5

Justice Court

CANYON CITY — The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Exceeding the speed limit: Richard Lane Garaventa, 69, Reno, Nevada, 51/35 zone, Nov. 11, fined $160; Julie Anna Brown, 71, Bend, 58/45 zone, Nov. 7, fined $135.

• Violation of the basic rule: Michael J. Deblois, 41, Westwood, California, 75/55 zone, Nov. 9, fined $160.

• Driving While Suspended: Caitlin Michelle Hulsey, 21, Pendleton, Aug. 30, fined $435.

• Criminal possession of rental property: Hanna Ann Reilly, sentenced to 48 hours in jail, 12 months probation and 20 hours community service and fined $1,089.


John Day dispatch worked 150 calls during the week of Nov. 21 to 27. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

• John Day Police

Nov. 23: Received a report of a menacing male subject acting very aggressive in downtown John Day.

Nov. 25: Possible hit and run in the Len’s parking lot. Responded to a report of a domestic assault and arrested a 41-year-old John Day resident. Police arrested Kristopher Michael Goodwin, 26, for violation of a release agreement after he was seen in contact with a person the court had ordered him not to contact. Responded to a report of someone shooting golf balls at a residence.

Nov. 26: Responded to a report of a subject who was walking in traffic on East Main Street.

• Grant County Sheriff

Nov. 22: Transported an inmate to and from Blue Mountain Hospital.

Nov. 24: Responded to two reports of possible shots fired four hours apart. Responded to a report of a party involving underage persons at the pit and then responded to a report of a lost person an hour later.

Nov. 25: Responded to a report of a possible burglary on Golf Club Road. Responded to report of a rollover accident with injuries on Ingle Creek Road and arrested a 22-year-old John Day resident for DUII.

Nov. 27: Performed a traffic stop and cited four subjects for minor in possession. Responded with search and rescue for a lost hunter near Seneca. Responded with OSP to a report of an assault.

Nov. 24: Responded to two calls of different subjects coughing up blood.


Nov. 22: Assisted a woman in getting a tow for a woman who drove off the road and hit a tree near Monument.

John Day Fire Department

Nov. 23: Advised of a caller with a hot water heater problem.

Oregon State Police

Nov. 24: Advised of a possible drunk driver between John Day and Mt. Vernon.

Nov. 25: Report of a stolen vehicle sighting on Highway 395.
