Arrests and citations in the Blue Mountain Eagle are taken from the logs of law enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of arrest cases.


Grant County Circuit Court


Charges against Thomas B. Alsup, 57, Prairie City, of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor delivery of methamphetamine were dismissed without prejudice Jan. 3. The district attorney’s motion for dismissal without prejudice cited an ongoing investigation and pending laboratory results.

Charges against Shannon L. Allison, aka Shannon L. Kreger, 47, Prairie City, of felony possession of methamphetamine and felony delivery of methamphetamine were dismissed without prejudice Jan. 5. The district attorney’s motion for dismissal without prejudice cited an ongoing investigation.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported the following for the week of Jan. 4:

Jan. 2: Christine Daum, 28, John Day, was cited for driving with a suspended license and no insurance and failure to renew.

Jan. 3: Jason Wainwright, 28, Long Creek, was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving with a suspended license and failure to install an ignition interlock device.


Justice Court


The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:


• Violation of the basic rule: John E. Robison, 73, John Day, Jan. 2, 80/55 zone, fined $220.


• Driving while revoked: Christine N. Daum, 28, Canyon City, Dec. 3, fined $1,000.

• Driving while suspended: Christine N. Daum, 28, Canyon City, Nov. 24, fined $1,000, Nov. 24, fined $1,000, Nov. 25, fined $1,000, and Dec. 3, fined $1,000; Efrain G. Camacho, 29, Prairie City, Dec. 17, fined $435.

• Driving while uninsured: Christine N. Daum, 28, Canyon City, Nov. 24, fined $260, Nov. 25, fined $260, Dec. 3, fined $500, and Dec. 3, fined $500; Efrain G. Camacho, 29, Prairie City, Dec. 17, fined $260.

• Failure to renew registration: Christine N. Daum, 28, Canyon City, Nov. 25, fined $110, and Dec. 3, fined $125.

• Registration sticker expired: Christine N. Daum, 28, Canyon City, Dec. 3, fined $125; Efrain G. Camacho, 29, Prairie City, Dec. 17, fined $110.

• Operating with a nonstandard light: Tyrel L. Ash, 20, John Day, Dec. 11, fined $160.

Joshua M. Semler, 40, John Day, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 24 months probation, 72 hours in jail and 24.5 hours of community service, and fined $200.


Oregon State Police


Jan. 6: Received a report of shots fired on East Main Street in John Day.

Jan. 6: Robert H. Bryant, 20, Mt. Vernon, was arrested and charged with DUII/Drug after his Ford Taurus was pulled over for speeding and defective lighting on Highway 26 near Clyde Holliday State Park around 10 p.m. Two female passengers were cited for MIP Marijuana – Rilee Sherman, 20, John Day, and a 17-year-old juvenile.

John Day dispatch worked 116 calls during the week of Jan 1-7. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

Jan. 2: Investigated a report of an assault at a senior home in John Day.

Jan. 3: Christopher Keith, 36, Prairie City, was pulled over on west Highway 26 in John Day and cited for driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

Jan. 3: Responded to a report of a flue fire on South Canyon Boulevard in John Day.

Jan. 4: Dispatched to a report of trespassing at the Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day.

Jan. 4: Received a report of suspicious circumstances on East Main Street in John Day.

Jan. 5: James Jewell, 35, Kimberly, was arrested on west Highway 26 in John Day and charged with DUII and cited for driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

Jan. 5: Received a report of a hit-and-run crash at the Department of Human Services in John Day.

Jan. 5: Dispatched with the sheriff’s office and Oregon State Police to West Main Street in John Day for a dispute. Madison Duval, 19, John Day, was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

Jan. 5: Received a report of a trespasser on South McHaley Avenue in Prairie City.

Jan. 5: Report of a hit-and-run crash on West Main Street in John Day.

Jan. 5: Responded to report of a hit-and-run crash to a building at an apartment complex on east Highway 26 in John Day.

Jan. 5: Shawn C. Kite, 49, Prairie City, was cited for driving with a suspended license on North McHaley Street in Prairie City.

Jan. 6: Received a report of a suspicious person in the city park in Prairie City.

• Grant County Sheriff’s Office

Jan. 1: Responded with Oregon State Police to a report of a fight at a restaurant on Main Street in John Day.

Jan. 1: Dispatched to Adams Drive in Canyon City for a report of a trespasser.

Jan. 5: Responded for a welfare check on North Mountain Boulevard in Mt. Vernon and found one person wanted on a Jefferson County warrant.

Jan. 6: Dispatched to a report of menacing on West Franklin Avenue in Dayville.

Jan. 6: Justin Shaw, 24, Eagle Point, was stopped on Highway 26 near Moon Creek Road and arrested for DUII and driving with a suspended license.

Jan. 1: Dispatched for a male subject on North Washington Street in Canyon City.

Jan. 2: Responded to an apartment in John Day for a 55-year-old woman.

Jan. 2: Dispatched to Riverside Street in Mount Vernon for an elderly man.

Jan. 3: Responded to South Bridge Street in Prairie City for a 73-year-old man with a possible stroke.

Jan. 4: Dispatched to a senior home in John Day for an elderly woman with chest pain.

Jan. 4: Responded with Monument ambulance to Southeast Main Street in Monument for a woman with difficulty breathing.

Jan. 5: Dispatched to Northwest Bridge Street in Prairie City for a man with internal bleeding.

Jan. 5: Responded to Southwest First Avenue in John Day for a man with chest pain.

Jan. 5: Dispatched with Seneca ambulance to C Avenue in Seneca for a 61-year-old man with an allergic reaction.

Jan. 5: Responded to a senior home in John Day for a 73-year-old man who had fallen and hit his head.

Jan. 6: Dispatched to Northwest Bridge Street in Prairie City for a 65-year-old man who had fallen and hit his head.
