A 27-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested and charged with offensive littering at an illegal dump site off Forest Service Road 4900.

According to dispatch logs, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the site on Laycock Creek on May 20 at 5:28 p.m.

In a press release, Grant County Undersheriff Zach Mobley said Travis A. Palmer was arrested and charged with offensive littering following an investigation into the dump site. He said the sheriff’s office takes illegal dumping very serious.

“The Grant County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all of the members of the public for their help and due diligence in solving this case,” Mobley said.

Mobley asked that any members of the public who find an illegal dump site contact the dispatch office at 541-575-0030 or the sheriff’s office at 541-575-1131.
