Grant County Circuit Court


Misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence and harassment against John D. Colton, 38, Prairie City, were dismissed without prejudice July 23 after the Grant County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion for dismissal stating that the victim was uncooperative and the state was unable to proceed at this time. Colton allegedly committed the assault and harassment on May 19.

Christopher P. Schuetze, 44, Canyon City, pleaded guilty July 19 to misdemeanor menacing constituting domestic violence committed on June 8. He was sentenced to 192 hours in jail, 19 months probation and $200 in fines and fees. Two harassment charges were dismissed.

Tanaya S. Robinson, 38, John Day, pleaded guilty July 26 to misdemeanor driving under the influence of intoxicants committed on Aug. 15, 2017. She was sentenced to 80 hours community service, 24 months probation and $1,255 in fines and fees. Her license was suspended for one year, and she was ordered to install an ignition interlock device in any vehicle she drives.

July 24: Stefan Safranek, 32, Eugene, cited for violating the basic rule, 76/55 zone, and failure to renew.

July 24: Jeffrey Cook, 21, Prairie City, cited for providing liquor to a person under 21.


Oregon State Police


July 28: Responded to Highway 26 near Pine Creek Road for a single-vehicle noninjury crash involving a motor home pulling a vehicle on a trailer. The 83-year-old driver from Prineville fell asleep and overcorrected as the motor home left the pavement. John Day police and ambulance also responded.
