Grant County Circuit Court


A charge of driving while under the influence of intoxicants on July 15, 2017, against Ryan J. Bernhard, 22, Scappoose, was dismissed with prejudice Sept. 4 after Bernhard fully complied with and completed a DUII diversion program or satisfied the requirement to complete a treatment program.

Jessica L. Officer, 31, Canyon City, pleaded guilty Sept. 6 to misdemeanor second-degree disorderly conduct committed July 11. She was sentenced to 120 hours in jail, 24 months probation, 30 hours of community service and $200 in fines and fees.

Mitchel D. Long, 47, Long Creek, pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to felony possession of methamphetamine committed on Jan. 7. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, 18 months probation and 80 hours of community service. In a separate case, he pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to frequenting a place where controlled substances are used committed on March 27. He was sentenced to 18 months probation. One count of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and one count of frequenting a place where controlled substances are used were dismissed.

Naomi B. Jones, 30, Long Creek, pleaded guilty Sept. 6 to misdemeanor harassment committed July 17. She was sentenced to 72 hours in jail, 12 months probation, 30 hours community service and $200 in fines and fees. A misdemeanor count of attempt to commit a Class A misdemeanor was dismissed.

Melina L. Schafer, 33, John Day, pleaded guilty Sept. 6 to refusing to take a test for intoxicants committed June 26. She was fined $650. A count of driving while under the influence of intoxicants was diverted. In a separate case, a charge of driving with a suspended or revoked license committed July 26 was dismissed on Sept. 6.

Oregon State Police


Sept. 2: Investigated a noninjury single-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Mitchell. Jody D. McDonald, 46, Drain, was cited for failure to drive in the lane.

Sept. 5: Received a report of a motorcycle crash on Highway 19 near Kimberly. The motorcycle was taken to the state police headquarters to make a report.

Sept. 5: Following a traffic stop on Highway 26 near Dixie Summit, Steven M. Warrington, 28, Granite, was arrested and charged for speeding, 79/65 zone, and driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

Sept. 7: Following a traffic stop on Highway 26 near Moon Creek Road, Lorin J. Hodge, 40, John Day, was arrested and charged on a U.S. Marshals Service warrant.

Sept. 4: Contacted about suspicious circumstances on Northwest Seventh Street in John Day involving a Craigslist advertisement.

Sept. 4: Responded to West Main Street in John Day regarding a hit-and-run crash.

Sept. 4: Received a report of cellphone harassment on Northwest Bridge Street in John Day.

Sept. 6: Dispatched to a restaurant on West Main Street in John Day for a suspicious person.

Sept. 7: Received a call from a person on Third Street in John Day about a neighbor keeping a pig inside the city limits.
