Forest Service officials are planning prescribed fires.

Prairie City Ranger District fire crews are planning to begin operations on the 16 Road project, located south of Forest Road 16 near Crane Prairie. Crews plan to treat approximately 150 acres. Activity will continue through the week on additional acreage if objectives are being met.

Also this week, crews on the Blue Mountain Ranger District are scheduled to initiate prescribed fire operations on 450 acres in the Damon North unit, about 4 miles north of Seneca. The prescribed fire activity taking place in this area is not related to the wildfire (Incident 206) that was suppressed by firefighters earlier this month.

Additionally on the Emigrant Creek Ranger District, officials are looking to start operations in the George unit, north and west of Delintment Lake campground.
