An 83-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed in an ATV accident near Monument on Sunday.

According to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office press release, David Johnson of Blanchard, Pennsylvania, was already deceased when first responders arrived at Manny Neal Road.

Dispatch took a report of a motor-vehicle crash on private property about 7:26 p.m. Deputy Damon Rand, along with Monument ambulance and fire, responded to the scene.

Rand learned the ATV had left the roadway for an unknown reason and traveled into a 12-foot deep ditch. The ATV then rolled and came to rest on top of Johnson. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
