Golfing basics for youth taught at camp

JOHN DAY – Youth can take a swing at golf during Junior Golf Camp, which begins Monday, June 23.

The camp, for ages 7-18, is taught by Ron Lundbom at the John Day Golf Club, with assistance from Patch Freeman. Both coach high school golf.

It runs three days a week over two weeks.

Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon June 23, 24 , 26, 30 and July 1-2.

The cost is $25.

Students will learn golfing basics, including proper grip, swing and stance, as well as rules and etiquette.

A team scramble will be held the last day with an ice cream treat for the participants.
