The Brothers Run, a 5K walk and run, is coming up 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Seventh Street Complex in John Day. For those who would like a T-shirt at the race, preregistration is due this Friday. Forms are available at Java Jungle in John Day and Prairie City and may be turned in at those locations or mailed to the address on the form. Those who register after Friday, Aug. 22, will still receive a T-shirt, however, they won’t be ready until later on.

The 5K honors two brothers - AJ Dickens of Mt. Vernon and the late Taner Gilliam who died in 2010. The brothers are the sons of Art and Janice Dickens. Proceeds from the race go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in AJ’s name and the Taner Gilliam Scholarship program for Grant County students.

Entry fee is $35 which includes a T-shirt, $30 for Grant County students, and 12 and under are free, if they’d like a T-shirt it’s $20.

Sweatshirts may be purchased separately for $30.

Volunteers for the event are needed.
