Kaylee Wright added to Grant Union’s lead over the 2A field in the high jump event at the Track and Field State Championships Thursday.

Wright placed second with a height 4-10.00, behind Enterprise’s Karli Bedard with a height of 5-02.00.

Wright earned eight teams points for second place, giving Grant Union a total of 40 points for first place with four events scored, followed by Monroe with 17, Kennedy with 13, Enterprise with 12 and Bandon and Weston-McEwen with 10.

Wright also placed first in javelin with a throw of 128-11. She still holds the 2A girls state meet record with last year’s mark of 131-03.

She will also compete in the 100-meter dash and the 4x100 relay Friday.
