Robert Laurel Hendricks, 78, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, in Layton, Utah. Hendricks was born on June 17, 1939, in Ashton, Idaho, to Lula Rachel McLane and Carl Ralph Hendricks.
While growing up, his family lived in Seneca where his mother taught school for many years. He graduated from Seneca Elementary School in 1953, Grant Union High School in 1957 and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, in 1962.
He worked as an officer sailing the Pacific Ocean, mostly on oil tankers. Then he worked for many years as a marine ship’s pilot out of Homer, Alaska. He retired to his parents’ home near Banks. He moved to Layton, Utah, two years ago to live nearer to his surviving nieces and nephews who will miss his generous and loving spirit.
He was preceded in death by his brother Carl Clayne Hendricks.
He is survived by sisters Marie (Jim) Rhodes of Valencia, California, and Ann (Bill) Covington of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.
