Poppy days are May 17-19

American Legion Auxiliary President Ruth Harris of the John Day Unit 77 and other auxiliary members will have a poppy booth at Chester’s Thriftway in John Day Thursday through Saturday, May 17-19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

American Legion Auxiliary members will have a poppy booth at Chester’s Thriftway in John Day Thursday through Saturday, May 17-19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The paper poppies are handmade by veterans and can be worn to honor the fallen and support the living military service members. Proceeds from donations assist disabled and hospitalized veterans.

Memorial Day observance is on Monday, May 28.
