BURNS – Family nurse practitioner Ashley Vanderdasson is the new primary care provider at the Burns-Hines VA Clinic.

Vanderdasson will work full-time, extending medical coverage at the clinic to five days a week.

Dr. Thomas Fitzpatrick stepped down as the clinic’s medical director effective Feb. 18. Future appointments he recommended will be handled by Vanderdasson.

Born and raised in the Burns-Hines area, Vanderdasson received her medical training at Oregon Health and Sciences University.

Of her new position at the clinic, she said, “I am honored to provide care to our nation’s heroes.”

Clinic manager and senior social worker Steve Bull pointed to Dr. Fitzpatrick’s support and expertise as critical to the successful startup of the clinic in January 2010. Since that time, Bull said, the staff has worked to provide personal and professional care to veterans.

“Ms. Vanderdasson will be a valuable asset to increase this effort,” Bull said. “With her participation, our clinic will continue to provide high-quality medical and behavioral health care to the veterans in north Lake, Harney and Grant counties.

The Burns-Hines VA Clinic is at 271 N. Egan Ave., Burns. Call 541-573-3339 for more information.
