SALEM – The Oregon Board of Parole says Sidney Dean Porter must stay in prison until at least June 2015.
The board issued an order deferring his release 24 months. Another release hearing will be set in February 2015.
Porter, who killed a John Day police officer 21 years ago, was scheduled to be released this June, but his case sparked an uproar among law enforcement officials statewide. The board agreed to reconsider the decision, reopening the hearing on his release Sept. 30.
