Justice Court CANYON CITY - The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
For violation of the basic rule: Nancy Dodge Ramage, Downey, Calif., 81/55 zone, fined $287; Delbert L. Barber, Bend, 70/55 zone, fined $190; Juan Tapia, Prineville, 76/55 zone, fined $230; Rafael Martinez, Los Angeles, 58/45 zone, fined $190; Daniel Cantrell, Boise, Idaho, 76/55 zone, fined $287; Andrew Heithaus, Portland, 75/55 zone, fined $155.
For violation of the speed law: Eben D. Ray, Sublimity, 74/55 zone, fined $190; Steven Mann, Bend, 42/30 zone, fined $196; Jean Peterson, Spray, 67/45 zone, fined $190; Betty Mathews, Baker City, 45/25 zone, fined $155.
For not wearing a seatbelt: Chad Holliday, Seneca, fined $142.
For exceeding the maximum number of vehicles in combination: Robert Martinez, Parket, Ariz., fined $142.
For driving without a license: Denise Staats, Sonora, Calif., fined $287.
For failure to obey a traffic control device: Trifonka Chakarova, Sunnyvale, Calif., fined $230.
For possession of less than an ounce of marijuana: Thomas White, Mt. Vernon, fined $1,000; Bryant Clemente, Pendleton, fined $1,000.
Circuit Court CANYON CITY - The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
Jeremiah O. Gwalthney, 32, was convicted of failure to notify ODOT of name/address change, and fined $187. One count of driving under the influence of intoxicants was diverted, and two for reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person were dismissed.
Travis Wayne Hodnett, 25, was convicted of failure to obey a traffic control device, and fined $242. He was acquitted on one count of DUII, and two for recklessly endangering another person.
Rick Allen Elliott, 47, was convicted of harassment, and sentenced to jail for 10 days, bench probation for 12 months, 40 hours of community service, and fined $768. One count of third-degree sexual abuse was dismissed.
Phillip Cline Alden, 67, was convicted of DUII, and sentenced to jail for 20 days, bench probation for 24 months, and fined $1,543. His driver's license was suspended for one year. On counts for failure to drive within a lane and violation of the open container law in a vehicle, he was fined $287 for each. He was acquitted on one count of reckless driving.
Oregon State Police At about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19, Oregon State Police investigated a single vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Pine Creek Road. When the driver, Brandon Crisler, 19, of Prairie City, swerved to avoid a deer, the westbound Ford Ranger struck a fence and embankment before coming to an upright rest. Crisler sustained minor injuries and was treated at Blue Mountain Hospital.
Police stopped a Toyota for speeding and expired license plates on Highway 26, west of Fields Creek Road, at about 8:20 p.m. Monday, June 21. Danny J. Burroughs, 41, of Lyons, was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and driving uninsured.
At 3:08 p.m. Saturday, June 26, OSP responded to Top Road, near Monument, for a reported vehicle crash. The driver lost control while negotiating a turn causing the Dodge pickup to leave the roadway, spin along the shoulder and strike a fence. When he overcorrected, the vehicle again went off the roadway, struck a tree and rolled down an embankment. Victor Earl Chittock, 55, of Monument was treated at Blue Mountain Hospital for minor injuries. After his release he was lodged in Grant County Jail on charges of DUII and reckless driving.
At about 2:50 p.m. Sunday, June 27, OSP stopped a Ford truck on Highway 395, north of Mt. Vernon, for speeding and not having a front license plate. The driver, Cody James Cole, 28, of Monument, was taken to jail and charged with DUII and open container of alcohol. A passenger, Daniel P. Meder, 20, Prairie City, was cited for minor in possession of alcohol, and another passenger was cited for open container of alcohol.

June 23: Theft report at Java Jungle; arrested a John Day man for DUII.

June 26: A reported hit and run at the Elks Lodge; citation issued to an Albany woman for driving without insurance.
Grant County Sheriff's Office:
June 21: Report of cows on Marks Creek; report of shots fired in Prairie City, turned out to be firecrackers; report of a sex abuse case in Mt. Vernon.
June 25: Reported theft of gasoline at Little Canyon Mtn.
June 27: Cited a John Day man for open container of alcohol.

June 21: 65-year-old woman with chest pains;

June 22: A woman with a possible heart attack.
June 23: 84-year old man who had fallen; 56-year-old diabetic man.
June 24: A man having a seizure.
