REDMOND – Grant Union had 11 wrestlers at the Oregon Classic in Redmond last weekend, and all won at least one match.

The team went 1-4 in duals, team against team, beating Neah-Kah-Nie, 42-30, and losing to Crane, 54-12; Central Linn, 48-27; Oakland, 48-30; and Myrtle Point, 42-36.

“Several close duals came down to forfeits being the difference,” said coach Andy Lusco.

The team filled 10 of the 14 weight classes, and while it is a significant improvement over the past few years, “several teams were able to beat us in duals by claiming some or all of those four missing weight classes on forfeits,” Lusco said.

Overall the Prospectors had 26 wins and 20 losses.

The Prospector team will host a tournament set for 9 a.m. on Friday at the Grant Union gym.

Standouts at the Classic include:

• Clay Johnson, 5-1

• Dillon Griffith 3-2

• Andrew Copenhaver 3-0

• Hunter Sexsmith- 2-0

• Caleb Batease 5-0
