Among the high tech tools available for staff and patients at Blue Mountain Hospital is new state-of-the-art MRI machine, installed last summer.

Now in full use, the state-of-the-art Toshiba Vantage Titan replaced an older model, housed in a trailer, that had been in use at the hospital for several years.

According to hospital radiology director Dan Goldblatt, the new MRI uses the latest in modern scanning technology, “offering better image quality and patient comfort.”

Goldblatt said the machine “is faster, more comfortable, less claustrophobic and offers better quality images than any other system in Eastern Oregon.”

“We have a wide array of patients we can do now, and we do all procedures that can be done in Bend,” he said.

The new tool is about 90 percent quieter than traditional models, and even has an audio system that, depending on the type of exam needed, allows patients to listen to their favorite music.

Goldblatt added that BMH’s radiology department boasts three nationally licensed technologists with over 32 years of combined experience.
