It’s a jungle in there!

Nearly lost in a lush forest, Lloydene Thomas waters plants for sale at the Grant Union Junior-Senior High School greenhouse. The greenhouse is open from just after 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Thursday, through May. Thomas said about 20 students – a dozen or so fulltime – were involved this year growing the plants, all from seed, starting in February. Proceeds from the plant sale go toward more seeds, pots, soil and other gardening items for the next season, as well as replacement supplies for the structure. Surplus money raised is used toward scholarships and various projects at the school. The greenhouse project sprouted in 1999, Thomas said, and is now in its 17th successful season.
