JOHN DAY – Two youngsters are riding on new wheels, thanks to the Grant County Library.

Silas Fansler, 4, and Annabelle Raschio, 1-1/2, were the winners in a drawing for new bicycles at the end of the library’s summer reading program.

Megan Brandsma led the six-week program in John Day City Park with stories and crafts for children up to age 12. Each time a child attended, their name was submitted for the drawing.

Library patrons John and Mary Michael shared the expense with the Library Foundation for the two bicycles as an incentive for children to participate. Silas received a blue BMX bicycle, and Annabelle’s prize was a pink and purple PlasmaCar tricycle.

This was the second year for the bicycle drawing.
