MOLALLA - The Grant Union Gold dance team brought home a first-place trophy from a competition Saturday at Molalla High School.

Others in the same division were Portland Lutheran, Dayton and Amity, which took second place.

Shannon Woodcock, the group's coach, said "the team was focused and performed exceptionally well."

She added that the routine, done to music from the"August Rush" soundtrack, was well received by the audience.

Next on the dancers' schedule is a competition at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in Pendleton. That one will include routines from the group's elementary and junior dance teams.

The group will also hold a "Spring Showcase" of performances at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at GUHS.

Admission is by donation at the door.

The showcase will be GU Gold's last fund-raiser of the season, as well as the last chance for the community to see them in local action.
