Althea Rae Kimball, 63, passed away February 4, 2005 at her home in Vale, Oregon. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Driskill Memorial Chapel with Pastor Skip Inscore of the Dayville Presbyterian Church officiating. Vault interment will be at Canyon City Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Strawberry Mt. Grange in Prairie City.

Mrs. Kimball was born July 4, 1941 in Prairie City to Clarence and Alice (Yohn) Curtis. She married Jerry Kimball on April 28, 1961.

She worked in an accounting firm in John Day for many years and as a bookkeeper for several banks in John Day.

Mrs. Kimball then stayed at home to raise her three boys while keeping books for the family's ranch and logging company.

Mrs. Kimball is survived by her husband, Jerry Kimball of Vale; three sons, Randy Kimball of Dayville, Brian Kimball of Cove, and Steven Kimball of Milton-Freewater; brother Dale Curtis of Chewelah, Wash.; sister Joan Ingalls of Prairie City; her grandchildren Zachery, Shalee, Jay, Jon, Meghan, and Seth; and 20 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Arney and Bob Curtis, and sister Margaret Schroder.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant County 4-H Leaders Association through Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
