JOHN DAY - The Grant County Fairgrounds will be home base for 100 to 120 motorcycle enthusiasts next Tuesday-Thursday, July 19-21.
The United Motorcycle Club International will hold its "International Rally," camping at the fairgrounds and taking in the scenic roads of Grant County, said coordinator Zach Hoffman.
UMCI is a loose-knit organization with members from many countries, including Canada, the U.S., Germany and New Zealand.
Most of those attending will come from the western states and western Canadian provinces, said Hoffman.
Hoffman noted that there are few rules in the UMCI, except that officers must be over the age of 40. It's open to anyone, and with any brand of motorcycle.
"You have to like to have fun," he said.
Rides, rallies and camp-outs are taken by various UMCI groups on almost every weekend between June and September.
"We'll take rides every day around the area, because of the beautiful scenery and great roads," said Hoffman.
Those who don't go out on the rides will likely spend time back at camp, playing cards and telling old war stories, he said.
Camping will include those with backpack tents to those in motorhomes. Some will ride into John Day, while others will trailer their bikes to begin their excursions.
