Jayne Primrose, a 13-year resident of Grant County, has been chosen as this month's First Bank Artist of the Month. An assortment of her greeting cards can be viewed and purchased at the bank on Main Street.
Jayne's love for making and sending greeting cards has helped begin her business, known as Primrose Cottage Cards.
"It is kind of an addiction," she stated regarding her papercraft hobby.
Jayne's greeting cards are made of old, recycled cards, buttons, rubber stamping, charms, vintage photos and anything else that may catch her eye. The cards show the time and love that is put into each one, giving them all that heartfelt feeling.
Jayne's cards are mainly sold at the gift shop at the hospital, bazaars, a small shop in Fossil and to friends digging through her boxes of homemade cards. Prices range from $1.50 to $2.25, depending how many embellishments are used. All cards include an envelope and range in types: birthday, graduation, thank you and many others. Card fronts don't dictate specific use and all cards are blank on the inside, giving space for card-senders to express themselves.
"Instead of what Hallmark wants you to say, write your own little note or long one," Jayne commented.
When Jayne is not making cards or sending them to her group of 25 "older" women a month, she can be found working at the Canyon City Museum.
