CANYON CITY - A 4-H Special Interest Babysitting Workshop, sponsored by Oregon State University (OSU) Extension Service and Child Care Resource & Referral, is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the TEC office at 118 S. Washington St. in Canyon City. Registration for the class is due by Monday, March 29 by 5 p.m.

Registration forms are available in local schools or can be picked up and returned to the OSU Extension Office in the Grant County Court House basement. There is a $10 registration fee to cover costs of materials.

The workshop covers emergency fire procedures, child development, basic food safety and snacks, police safety and basic first aid with hands-on practice.

This workshop is available to youth ages 12 and up. Each participant needs to bring a sack lunch and is responsible for transportation to and from the workshop. There is a limit of 18 participants so sign up early.
