LOGAN VALLEY- Ready to search for sunken treasure, sail the Black Pearl, or maybe even walk the plank?
The Grant-Harney 4-H Camp invites youth who have completed fourth through sixth grades to sign up for its "Pirates of the Caribbean" themed camp at Lake Creek Camp June 23-26.
Campers will experience four days of activities including outdoor living skills, natural resources classes, crafts, interactive games, hikes, flag ceremonies, and skits - all inspired by the hit film "Pirates of the Caribbean." Registration is due Monday, June 4.
The event is sponsored by the OSU Extension Service with the support from the 4-H Leaders Association. Cost is $120, but Grant County 4-H members can register for $60 thanks to a $60 contribution from the Grant County 4-H Leader's Association.
Three full scholarships are available to 4-H members from the Swede Pearson Memorial Fund, and two John Day Kiwanis scholarships. The John Day Lion clubs provides a scholarhip for the counselors.
Campers will be supervised by adult volunteers and older youth counselors responsible for the camp program, and a nurse will be on duty all week. Eight to 10 counselors will be housed in a rustic A-frame cabin with two counselors.
Detailed information on transportation and what to bring to camp will be sent to participants after June 4.
