JOHN DAY - Several campgrounds on the Malheur National Forest will be closed to public use at various times until Friday, Oct. 8.

The closures will be in effect while contractors install upgrades and features that will allow all visitors full access to facilities.

The following campgrounds will be affected:

? Middle Fork: Sept. 20-21

? Dixie: Sept. 21-23

? Wickiup: Sept. 22-23

? Starr: Sept. 23-27

? Big Creek: Sept. 27-29

? North Fork: Sept. 28-30

? Elk Creek: Sept. 29-30

? Strawberry: Sept. 30-Oct. 4

? Oregon Mine: Oct. 5-6

Due to the uncertainty of weather and construction delays, dates are subject to change. Those planning to visit any of the until Oct. 8, are encouraged to contact recreation at the Prairie City District at 541-820-3800, to find out if construction activities will occur.
