Cherise Ricco seizes reins as Grant County Fair, Rodeo Queen

JOHN DAY - Cherise Ricco, daughter of Russell and Muffett Ricco of Prairie City, has been chosen as 2003-04 Grant County Fair and Rodeo Queen.

Cherise, 18, is a senior at Prairie City High School. She was born into a ranch family and raised at Prairie City, where she began riding at a very young age. She also participated in ranch activities such as gathering cows, as well as riding for fun.

This year she participated in FFA and sold her first steer.

At school she's a member of the Family Careers and Community Leaders of America, which provides community service, helps students develop their public speaking skills and the group also attended competitions and conferences. Other interests include volleyball, basketball and track.

Cherise has three sisters - Angela Ricco, Danielle Ricco and Caitlin Patten.
