JOHN DAY - Seniors Amanda Courchesne and Whitney Simmons, along with junior Becky Landis, were named first-team all-league players by a recent vote of Wapiti League volleyball coaches.

Senior Kim Mathews earned second-team honors, while Maci Mascall received honorable mention.

The Prospectors won the Wapiti League championship during the 2003 season, and advanced to the state Class 2A playoffs as the No. 2 seed from District No. 8 after losing to Union in the league tournament.

The Prospectors also had a number of players receiving scholar-athlete honors for maintaining a 3.2 grade point average or better during the season.

These players included Courchesne, Landis, Carrie Brown, Mascall, Bobbie Vidourek, Halee Britt, Mathews, Lindsay Duncan and Simmons.
