Arrests and citations in the Blue Mountain Eagle are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.

Justice Court

CANYON CITY - The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Daniel E. James, La Pine, was convicted of minor in possession of alcohol, fined $500, and his driver's license was suspended for a minimum of 90 days.

• Nicole J. Cagle, John Day, was convicted of minor in possession, fined $500, and her driver's license was suspended for a minimum of 90 days.

• Madelynne Sheehan, Scappoose, violation of the speed law (60/35 zone), fined $230.

• Jwy-Song Yeh, Victoria, British Columbia, violation of the basic rule (74/55 zone), fined $190.

Circuit Court

CANYON CITY - The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Natasha Gail Roba, 26, was convicted of endangering the welfare of a minor, and sentenced to supervised probation for 18 months, 40 hours of community service, and fined $668. One count of unlawful possession of marijuana was disposed on conditional discharge.

• Joseph David Tirico, 47, was convicted of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and fined $1,148. He was found not guilty on counts for driving under the influence of intoxicants and recklessly endangering another person.

• Christopher L. Hales, 26, was convicted of second-degree disorderly conduct, and sentenced to jail for 20 days, bench probation for 18 months, and fined $358. One count of interfering with a peace, parole or probation officer was dismissed.

Oregon State Police

• About 7:12 p.m. Monday, July 18, Oregon State Police stopped a car on Highway 26 at Indian Creek Road. Heather Sophia Ritter, 21, and Antonio Rivera, 31, both of Prairie City, were cited, in lieu of custody, for theft by receiving/possession of stolen property and released. Property was seized.

• OSP assisted John Day Police with a report of an assault and criminal trespassing, at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, July 23.

• At 4:37 p.m. Saturday, July 23, OSP assisted the Grant County Sheriff's Office with a reported stolen vehicle at Living Word Christian Center in Mt. Vernon. About 5:30 p.m. OSP located a suspect. Virginia Marie Seganos, 27, of Boise, Idaho, was lodged in the Grant County Jail in connection with the investigation.

• At 7 p.m. Saturday, July 23, troopers took Gerald Lynn Mills, 54, Mt. Vernon, into custody on a parole and probation detainer. He was taken to the county jail.

• At 8:10 p.m. Saturday, July 23, in Long Creek, OSP took Daniel Dewey Ocacio, 26, of Pendleton, into custody on three felony warrants and manufacture of a controlled substance, and cited him for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.


John Day dispatch worked 190 calls during the week of July 18-24. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

• John Day Police:

July 18: Cited a woman for possession of a controlled substance on 2nd Street.

July 19: Cited a John Day man for minor in possession; arrested a Klamath Falls woman on a warrant.

July 21: Cited a Spokane, Wash., man for speeding.

July 23: Attempted break-in reported at the fairgrounds; report of a juvenile crashing a bicycle through a window at the Grant County Ranch and Rodeo Museum.

• Grant County Sheriff:

July 18: Thefts from vehicles reported on Bridge Street; burglary reported on S. Main Street.

July 19: Report of windows shot out of a house on N. Johnson Street; cited a Prairie City man for possession of less than an ounce and open container.

July 20: Reported child abuse in Long Creek.

July 23: Cited a Henderson, Nev., woman for speeding on Highway 395 north of Mt. Vernon; arrested a Boise, Idaho, woman for stealing a vehicle; arrested a 40-year-old woman for assault on Pine Creek; Cited a driver for unsafe passing.

• John Day ambulance:

July 19: Dispatched for man with trouble breathing.

July 21: Responded for a 58-year-old man injured in a farm accident; responded for a 58-year-old man with dizziness.

July 23: 88-year-old man who fell.

• Prairie City ambulance:

July 20: Responded for a person who had fallen.

July 23: Responded for a 70-year-old man.

• Monument ambulance:

July 18: Transported a 65-year-old woman to the hospital.
