Justice Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• No operator’s license: Tyler Martin, 22, John Day, fined $260; Carissa Endicott, 26, Prairie City, fined $260; Ryan Glen Chapman, 38, Cascade, Idaho, fined $260.

• Driving while suspended: Leonard D. Fennell, 25, Vancouver, Wash., fined $220;

• Driving uninsured: Leonard D. Fennell, 25, Vancouver, Wash., fined $370; Carissa Endicott, 26, Prairie City, fined $195.

• Registration sticker expired: Tia M. Dilley, 35, John Day, fined $110.

• Exceeding speed limit: Malcolm J. Cameron, 62, John Day, 50/35 zone, fined $135.

• Violation of the basic rule: Clay Osborne, 20, Manteca, Calif., fined $160; Zachary D. Rodrigues, 28, Portland, 69/55 zone, fined $160; Rocky J. Kautz, 53, Pendleton, 70/55 zone, fined $160; Andrew S. Yeaple, 30, Bend, 70/55 zone, fined $160.

• Semi-trailer exceeding 53-foot length: Jose F. Marquez Mayorquin, 45, Kent, Wash., fined $110.

• Minor-in-possession of alcohol: Britt M. Wilcox, fined $260; Shantel Klenski, fined $260.

• Robert D. Larkin was convicted of improper use of 911 as a violation, and fined $300.

Circuit Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Ryan L. Sagaser, 24, pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. He was sentenced to jail for 10 days, supervised probation for 18 months, 80 hours community service, and fined $1,300. His driver’s license was suspended for one year. He pleaded guilty to criminal driving while suspended or revoked. He was sentenced to jail for five days, supervised probation for 18 months, 40 hours community service, and fined $100. The sentence is to be consecutive to the other one. The court dismissed him of one count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer after getting out of a vehicle.

Oregon State Police

• At 7:55 p.m. Jan. 22, Oregon State Police and John Day Police arrested Ashley Hicks, 25, and Timothy Keith, 29, in John Day, for restraining order violations. They were lodged in Grant County Jail.

• At 8:35 p.m. Jan. 25, OSP responded to a report of a moving truck in a ditch on State Route 19, north of the Cant Ranch Park. Police charged the driver, Russell L. Williams, 34, of Bend, with DUII, reckless endangering and driving while suspended, and cited passenger Carl A. St. Jean, 28, of Bend, for open container of alcohol.

• At 7:30 a.m. Jan. 26, OSP assisted John Day Police with a reported intoxicated person on Highway 26 at Dog Creek Road. Dean E. Inglish, 44, John Day, was charged with DUII and taken to Grant County Jail.

• OSP and John Day Police responded to a reported fight in progress behind the Bar WB store in Prairie City, at about 4:25 p.m. Jan 27. Fritz M. Voigt, 31, of Prairie City was arrested for felony probation violation, DUII and resisting arrest, cited for refusing breath test, and lodged in Grant County Jail.

• Police responded to reports of rock slides on Highway 26 in Picture Gorge, at 9:40 p.m. Jan 29.

• At 4:38 p.m. Jan 31, OSP assisted a Grant County Parole and Probation officer with a home visit. Shantal Dawn Klenski, 18, and Bryon Earl Freniere, 19, both of John Day, were taken into custory for violation of a no contact order, from a prior domestic report. They were lodged in Grant County Jail.

Grant County Sheriff

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported the following for the week of Jan 25-31:

• Concealed handgun licenses: 19

• Average inmates: 19.1

• Bookings: 11

• Releases: 11

• Arrests: 1

• Fingerprints: 21

• Civil papers processed: 15

• Warrants processed: 1

Dispatch

John Day dispatch worked 179 calls during the week of Jan. 25-Feb. 3. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

• John Day Police:

Jan. 25: Arrested a Prairie City man on a Grant County warrant.

Jan. 26: Arrested a John Day man for DUII; arrested a John Day man for domestic assault and possession of a controlled substance.

Jan. 30: Hit-and-run reported at U.S. Bank.

• Grant County Sheriff:

Jan. 25: Arrested an Izee man for domestic assault and harassment.

Jan. 29: 87-year-old woman who needed assistance.

Feb. 2: Arrested a Molalla man for driving while suspended misdemeanor.

• Prairie City ambulance:

Jan. 27: 70-year-old man who had fallen.

Jan. 28: 94-year-old woman with a possible stroke.

• Monument ambulance:

Jan. 27: 74-year-old woman with back pain.

• Mt. Vernon ambulance:

Jan. 25: Responded for a man with a possible stroke; responded for a man who collapsed.
