Justice Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Careless driving: Gary Misbach, 58, Deer Park, Wash., fined $410; Jordan Ackerman, 17, John Day, fined $370.

• Driving uninsured: Gary Misbach, 58, Deer Park, Wash., fined $230; Ashlie R. Clark, 20, Caldwell, Idaho, fined $260.

• Failure to register vehicle: Christopher J. McCormack, 20, Bend, fined $110.

• No/invalid ODOT permit: Cody Wayne Wilson, 51, John Day, fined $435.

• No operator’s license: Docie E. Burch, 33, John Day, fined $260; Ashlie R. Clark, 20, Caldwell, Idaho, fined $260.

• Failure to drive within lane: Sundeep Singh, 38, Union City, Calif., fined $260.

• Failure to use chains: James Godlove, 49, Prineville, fined $135.

• Violation of the basic rule: Christopher B. Slegner, 46, Hines, 71/55 zone, fined $135; Timothy Price, 27, Bend, 77/55 zone, fined $260; Jessica M. Saul, 29, Mt. Vernon, 73/55 zone, fined $135; Joshua Anderson, 25, Concord, Calif., 77/55 zone, fined $260; Ashlie R. Clark, 20, Caldwell, Idaho, 70/55 zone, fined $160.

• Shantal Klenski was convicted of third-degree theft, and sentenced to 24 hours in jail, 12 months bench probation and 40 hours community service. She was fined $135.32, which included restitution to Chester’s Thriftway, and ordered to have no contact with Chester’s.

• Desai Vasuder was convicted of third-degree theft, and sentenced to 24 hours in jail and 12 months bench probation. She was ordered to pay $10 restitution to Chester’s Thriftway, and ordered to have no contact with Chester’s.

• Sabrina Tippett was convicted of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and fined $650.

• Brad Hartwick of Mt. Vernon was convicted of two counts of driving while suspended misdemeanor. On one, he was sentenced to bench probation for 12 months and 40 hours community service, and fined $200; and the other, sentenced to bench probation for 12 months, fined $260, and ordered to not leave Oregon without permission. He was convicted of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and fined $650.

Circuit Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Jarrod Robert Kelso, 34, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to bench probation for 18 months and 100 hours of community service, and fined $600.

• Jason Brent Schattauer, 32, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was sentenced to jail for 48 hours and bench probation for 18 months, and fined $1,000. His driver’s license was suspended for one year. He pleaded guilty to violation of the open container law in a vehicle, and was fined $260.

• Melinda Eileen Dethman, 52, pleaded guilty to DUII. She was sentenced to bench probation for one year and 80 hours community service, and fined $1,690. Her driver’s license was suspended for one year. She pleaded guilty to failure to drive within a lane, and was fined $130.

Oregon State Police

• At 6:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, Oregon State Police investigated a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 26, east of Laycock Creek. The westbound Chevy Tahoe lost traction, traveled counter-clockwise into the eastbound lane, and rolled over to a rest on the passenger side. The driver, Vivian Marie Morris of Ritter, was wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured.

• On Saturday, Feb. 9, OSP investigated a report of recent break-ins at the Seneca storage facility, where three units had been broken into between the night of Feb. 3 and the morning of Feb. 5. The stolen items included a chainsaw, a Toyota tailgate, and a lawn chair.

Grant County Sheriff

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported the following for the week of Feb. 1-7:

• Concealed handgun licenses: 9

• Average inmates: 16.4

• Bookings: 9

• Releases: 9

• Arrests: 1

• Fingerprints: 14

• Civil papers processed: 13

• Warrants processed: 1

• Search and Rescue operations: 1

Dispatch

John Day dispatch worked 126 calls during the week of Feb. 4-10. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

• John Day Police:

Feb. 9: Cited a John Day man for driving while suspended and driving uninsured.

• Grant County Sheriff:

Feb. 5: Arrested a Prairie City man on a felony warrant.

• John Day ambulance:

Feb. 7: 93-year-old woman who had fallen.

• Prairie City ambulance:

Feb. 6: Dispatched for a woman with swelling and difficulty breathing.

Feb. 7: Dispatched for a girl who had fallen at Prairie City High School.
