Circuit Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• John Anthony Silva, 47, pleaded guilty to failure to report as a sex offender. He was sentenced to jail for 30 days, and fined $500.

Oregon State Police

• At about 3:15 p.m., Jan. 14, on Highway 26 in Malheur County, Oregon State Police cited Ty Jason Round, 34, of John Day, for violation of the basic rule (86/55 zone) and for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

• Just after midnight, Jan. 19, OSP cited a juvenile driver for minor in possession of alcohol – several gallons of homemade liquor.

Grant County Sheriff

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported the following for the week of Jan. 10-16:

• Concealed handgun licenses: 6

• Average inmates: 21

• Bookings: 13

• Releases: 14

• Citations: 2

• Fingerprints: 6

• Civil papers processed: 10

• Warrants processed: 5

• Assistance/welfare check: 2

• Marcus Perkins, 21, John Day, cited for operating without regulation lights and improper display of stickers.

• Corey Slayton, 22, Mt. Vernon, cited for improper display of sticker.

Dispatch

John Day dispatch worked 119 calls during the week of Jan. 13-19. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

• Grant County Sheriff:

Jan. 13: Cited a John Day woman for driving while suspended; reported theft in Dayville; cited a 16-year-old boy for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Jan. 14: Trespassing reported at Riverside Mobile Home Park.

Jan. 17: Theft reported on Highway 26, east of Dayville.

• Long Creek ambulance:

Jan. 16: Dispatched for 83-year-old man with possible stroke.

• John Day ambulance:

Jan. 14: Paged for a woman who passed out.

Jan. 17: Dispatched for man with chest pain.

Jan. 18: Called for an elderly woman who fell.

Jan. 19: Responded for an 84-year-old man with breathing problems.

Justice Court

CANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Violation of the basic rule: Mark Christopher Gwillim, 43, Monroe, 74/55 zone, fined $160; Lindsey M. Brunsman, 31, Bend, 75/55 zone, fined $160; Craig Stockdale, 32, Lostine, 85/55 zone, fined $260.

• Exceed permitted weight limit: Dennis Waggoner, 47, Prairie City, found not guilty.

• Failure to register vehicle: Eric Scott Skidgel, 21, Baker City, fined $110.

• Failure to change name/address on ID card: Dennis R. Farr, 22, Canyon City, fined $110.

• Driving uninsured: Dennis R. Farr, 22, Canyon City, fined $260; Kolton Ray Collins, 20, Redmond, fined $260; Ryan Glen Chapman, 39, John Day, fined $260.

• Driving while suspended-violation: Kolton Ray Collins, 20, Redmond, fined $435; David Haynes, 34, John Day, fined $435; Ryan Glen Chapman, 39, John Day, fined $435.

• Careless driving-accident: Kolton Ray Collins, 20, Redmond, fined $435.

• Failure to carry registration: David Haynes, 34, John Day, fined $110.

• Failure to carry proof of insurance: David Haynes, 34, John Day, fined $260.

• Failure to display out-of-state plates: Margaret L. Clinton, 68, Maricopa, Ariz., fined $160.
