Justice Court

CANYON CITY - The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Violation of the speed limit: Cindy May Dougharity Spencer, 42, Canyon City, 46/25 zone, fined $190.

• Exceeding maximum weight limit: Jimmy Durheim, 68, Prineville, fined $127.

• Violation of the basic rule: Boyd H. Britton, 61, John Day, 77/55 zone, fined $260.

• Exceeding permitted weight limit: Roger L. McKinley, 71, Prairie City, fined $135.

• Pleading guilty, as a violation, to hunting without a valid tag: John S. Vermaas, Gresham, 40 hours community service, fined $300, and driver's license suspended for 36 months; Erik John Vermaas, 40 hours community service, fined $300, and driver's license suspended for 36 months.

• Convicted, as a violation, of hunting without a valid tag: Loren L. Krieg, Beaver Creek, 40 hours community service, fined $300, and hunting privileges suspended for 36 months; Steven J. Kruse, Zig Zag, 40 hours community service, fined $300, and hunting privileges suspended for 36 months.

• Convicted, as a violation, of improper use of emergency reporting system: Ronald D. Taynton, John Day, fined $435.

• Pleaded guilty to possession of less than an ounce of marijuana: Samuel Darbonne, fined $648.

Circuit Court

CANYON CITY - The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

• Lonnie Dale Plemon Jr., 52, was convicted, based on a jury verdict, of driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was sentenced to jail for 60 days, supervised probation for 24 months and 40 hours community service, and fined $1,643. His driver's license was revoked for life.

Oregon State Police

• At 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, Oregon State Police stopped a Ford Winstar on Highway 395 north of Long Creek. Police cited Timothy Horne, 42, of Stockton, Calif., for driving without a license and driving uninsured.

• At about 3:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, OSP assisted John Day Police with the custody arrest of Thomas Britton, 74, of John Day, on an outstanding Grant County warrant.

• At about 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, OSP responded to a report of an aggressive person in Prairie City. Police arrested Daniel D. Ocacio, 27, of Prairie City, for disorderly conduct.

John Day dispatch worked 110 calls during the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, including:

• John Day Police:

Jan. 30: Report of shoplifters at Len's Drug.

Feb. 3: Cited a Mt. Vernon man for driving while suspended and no proof of insurance.

Feb. 4: Cited a John Day man for driving without insurance and expired tags.

Feb. 5: Responded to a verbal dispute at the West Shell station.

• Grant County Sheriff:

Feb. 2: Arrested a Prairie City man on a Grant County warrant.

Feb. 3: Cited a John Day woman for speeding.

Feb. 4: Theft of tools and vehicle reported at Buffalo Mine.

Feb. 5: Arrested a Kimberly man for assault.

• Prairie City Fire:

Feb. 4: Structure fire reported at 5th and Washington streets.

• John Day ambulance:

Jan. 31: 92-year-old man who fell.

• Prairie City ambulance:

Feb. 1: 83-year-old woman who fell.

• Mt. Vernon ambulance:

Jan. 30: 80-year-old woman with diabetic issues.
