HINES - Oregon State Police troopers from Burns and John Day seized a pound of marijuana and arrested two Montana residents in a traffic stop about 11 miles west of Hines.

It was the fourth marijuana seizure in five weeks for officers at the Burns work site.

The incident began about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, when a patrol trooper from the John Day office and a fish and wildlife trooper from the Burns office stopped a Chevrolet van for a traffic violation.

The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of one pound of marijuana in the van.

Peter Petri, 42, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and unlawful possession of a marijuana. The passenger, Kimberly Eickman, 48, was was arrested for unlawful possession of a marijuana. Both are from White Fish, Mont.

They were taken to the Harney County Correctional Facility.

Previous stops included a Nov. 16 arrest of two California residents following the discovery of 10 pounds of marijuana.
