SALEM - February figures released by the Oregon Employment Department indicate Grant County was tied with Wallowa County for the highest rate of unemployment in the state.

The estimated jobless rate for Grant County stood at 14.6 percent, down slightly from the revised January rate of 15.2 percent.

This is the second consecutive month that Grant County has had Oregon's highest rate of unemployment, with an estimated 534 workers out of a job.

This year's rate is down 1.8 percent from the February 2002 figure of 16.4 percent.
