Covered two ways

JOHN DAY - The annual installation of officers and banquet for the Grant County Chamber of Commerce occurred Saturday evening at the John Day Golf Club.

Social hour was at 6 p.m. and festivities commenced with a welcome speech given by Bob Quinton, who was the evening's master of ceremonies.

Ruth Harris gave the invocation and then dinner was served at 7 p.m.

Presentations included installation of officers and directors by Ruth Harris; volunteer recognition by Arlene McGetrick; presentation to continuing president by Bob Quinton; continuing president's message by Linda Cook; and a raffle by Jerry Franklin.

New director Kathie Stoddard won the featured raffle prize, a barbeque donated by John Day True Value Hardware.

John Day Floral, Jim and Tatyana Sanders, Harvey Mathews, Jim Jensen and AOI donated other door prizes.

Tables were decorated by Century 21-Franklin Realty, Inc., McDonald's, Canyon Creek Candle Co. and More, US Bank, Bank of Eastern Oregon, FirstBank, Oxbow Trade Co. and Stoddard.

McGetrick served coffee and doughnuts.

The Chamber of Commerce extended its thanks to the following members, who worked Saturday putting a new roof on the Chamber of Commerce office: Brian Whitman, Sharon Paddock, Bob Quinton and Jerry and Ira Franklin.

The volunteers-started at 6 a.m. and left late in the day with barely enough time to get home and change for the banquet.
