JOHN DAY - Several roads on the Malheur National Forest will be temporarily closed for projects involving culvert replacement to allow for more effective fish passage.

Beginning Wednesday, July 6, Forest Road 2335 was set to be closed between mileposts 21 and 24; Forest Road 2635/616 will also be inaccessible.

Culvert replacement is scheduled to be completed on August 8. No detour route is available for this project; however Forest officials said that in the case of fire, emergency access will be made available.

Also starting July 6, and continuing through Aug. 15, Forest Road 36, between mile posts 15 and 17, as well as Forest Road 3640 from milepost 0 to milepost 1, will be closed. A detour route for Forest Road 36 will be signed and available.  The route follows County Road 18 from four corners to Forest Road 3620, continues on to Forest Road 3645 and returns to Forest Road 36.

Project completion dates are estimated and are subject to weather and construction delays.

Drivers are reminded to use caution, slow down and be aware of workers in the area.
