Cycling through

The 500-mile, Sept. 8-14 Cycle Oregon bicycling tour passed through John Day on Sept. 9. By then, riders had covered 75 miles from Nyssa en route to Florence on the coast. Dennis and Stefanie Grant from St. Helens posed behind a bicycle owned by Dennis' father Ron at the Grant County Fairgrounds on Tuesday morning. Dennis said his father would be riding solo on Tuesday's leg of the Cycle Oregon Tour, traveling toward Mitchell. "My Dad lost two of the riders he had yesterday," Dennis said. "One is a little sore and the other is our daughter, Emili, who is 9, and she is a little tired." Cycle Oregon is celebrating its 15th anniversary celebration. More on the tour and local impressions will appear in next week's Eagle.
