HINES - Local organizations and agencies have arranged for the 2008 hunter information station in preparation for the upcoming Controlled Buck Deer Rifle Season. The information station will be set up at Erickson's Thriftway on Thursday and Friday, October 2 and 3, and staffed with state and federal agency representatives from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Hunters are encouraged to stop by, learn about Harney County and find the latest information on fire restrictions, road closures, and current game regulations.

Maps available for purchase at the station include Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) recreation maps, BLM Sportsman Series maps, USFS Fireman maps, and southeastern Oregon Hunt Unit maps from Harney County Geographic Information Systems. Several informational brochures will also be on hand.

Hunter booth sponsors include Erickson's Thriftway, Harney County, Harney County Chamber of Commerce, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, USFS, and BLM.
