Donald McGarvin, of Prairie City, a former logger, hunter, and outdoorsman, died Dec. 22, 2005. He was 89.
At his request, no services are planned. Interment will be at Portland Memorial Mausoleum. Eternal Hills Funeral Home, Klamath Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McGarvin was born Dec. 20, 1916, in Oakland, Ore., to Frank and Mamie (Burge) McGarvin. He married his wife, Elaine, in 1942.
He was a logger for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in John Day.
Mr. McGarvin is survived by his sister, Pauline Mullica, of Klamath Falls; daughter, Darleen Hill, of British Columbia, Canada; grandsons, Richard and Russell Hill; great-granddaughters Alexandria and Illyra; niece, Shirley Nickelson, of Klamath Falls; nephews, Bill McGarvin and Dale and Gary Mullica; and numerous other relatives and friends, including many special friends in the John Day area.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; brothers, Amos, Alvin and Dale McGarvin; and grandson, Robert Hill.
