PORTLAND - U.S. Bank is lending a little extra fuel to the Great Food Drive this month by designating its nearly 200 branch offices as official drop sites for contributions to the Oregon Food Bank.

Organizers hope to collect more than one million pounds of food for this year's drive, which runs through March 31. It is purposefully timed after the holiday season, when supplies tend to dwindle.

"We're proud to partner with KGW Channel 8 and Albertsons to bring attention to the root causes of hunger and work towards a solution so that no one goes hungry," said Mike Michael, president of U.S. Bank in Oregon.

The U.S. Bank branch in John Day, located at 129 N. Canyon Blvd., is accepting food until March 31, with all donated money and food remaining in the Grant County area.
