Feb. 23, 1914 - Feb. 19, 2005Elda Irene Powell 90, of Prineville, passed away on Saturday, Feb.19, surrounded by her family.
There will be a public viewing at 9 a.m. on Thursday Feb. 24, followed by a funeral service at Prineville Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Juniper Haven Cemetery at 2 p.m. There will be a reception at the funeral home beginning at 2:30 p.m. following the graveside service.
Mrs. Powell was born on Feb. 23, 1914, to Charles and Mary Jane (Smith) Birdsong, pioneers of Crook County.
In 1931 she married Virgil Powell, also from a Crook County pioneer family. She and Virgil were married for over 73 years.
Mrs. Powell was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed gardening and loved to hunt, fish and go camping.
She is survived by her husband Virgil; her daughter Winona and son-in-law Ash White of Lakewood, Wash; two sons Stanley and Bonnie Powell and Larry and Pauline Powell, both of Mt. Vernon; one brother Charles, of Troutdale; one sister Ruby Drew of Prineville; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Powell had nine brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions in Elda's name may be made in lieu of flowers to Pioneer Memorial Hospice, at 1201 NE Elm St. Prineville, OR. 97754.
