Elliott aims for repeat as bull-riding champ

Dustin Elliott

CHADRON, Neb. - Chadron State College senior Dustin Elliott of John Day will be aiming to end his collegiate rodeo career in style, competing at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., on June 8-15.

Elliott, the regional bullriding champion, will be setting his sights on reclaiming the national title he won in 2001, when he was the only competitor to make the eight-second whistle on all four of his rides.

His most recent victory came at the PRCA event in Kansas City, Kan., on May 22-24, when he scored an 84-point ride to walk away with the top prize of $2,156.

Elliott skipped the Three-Region Showdown to marry Chadron State College coed Cindy Stoetzel on May 31 but since he was the regional bullriding champion, he was already qualified for the national finals.
