JOHN DAY - City council positions held by Kaidee Weaver, Steve Schuette and Jack Grubbs are up for election in John Day this fall.

The posts will be on the Nov. 4 election ballot. The filing deadline for candidates is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.

Nomination petitions shall contain at least 25 signatures of qualified electors residing in the city. If a candidate does not use a petition, a $50 fee must be paid by the filing deadline.

Petitions may be picked up at John Day City Hall, 450 E. Main Street, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. More info: 575-0028.

The John Day city filing deadline is the first of several set by communities in Grant County that will be filling local council posts this fall.
