JOHN DAY - It's football time! The Blue Mountain Eagle proudly returns with its Football Contest, offering a $100 prize each week to the best prognosticator of the pigskin. See link at the bottom of the story for details on how to enter.Meanwhile, the Eagle welcomes a regular crew and a guest to make their own, independent predictions each week. This week's inaugural guest picker is Oregon Trail Electric Co-op's John Stearns. Anyone baffled by the match-ups in the football contest can consider his selections for the weekend's winners. We cannot vouch for his accuracy. But, then again, we cannot vouch for any of the predictions. These results are strictly for bragging rights. We at the Eagle figured if we couldn't enter the real contest, at least we could live vicariously by staging our own. Our thanks to John; he, like any of our guest pickers throughout the season, is still eligible to enter the real contest. But please make sure and enter the official contest to qualify. Good luck and let's play!

Guest pickerJohn Stearns climbs onto the Blue Mountain Eagle bench and daringly picks the Seattle Sea-squawks, er, we mean the Seahawks to beat Oakland. So they beat Kansas City without Trent Dilfer. That was their only win in three exhibition season games!
